In the 1960’s the family owned 9 shops in and around London, but with the introduction of meat counters at supermarkets and a shift in consumer buying habits through the 60s & 70s, traditional butchers were in demise and it is estimated that as many as 60,000 independent butcher shops have disappeared from high streets in the UK since 1960 with as few as just 6800 now remaining. We are pleased that our business survived these times.
Though the last few decades have not been great for independent butchers in general, we are pleased to now be seeing a shift in consumer attitudes and we are pleased that people are now showing more interest than ever in the origins of their food and also waking up to the consequences of large scale factory farming.
It is our mission to provide customers with best quality local foods, that have been ethically produced. We do this by working closely with our local farmers and suppliers which ensures great quality but also allows us to offer great produce at realistic and fair prices.
